Logo design: Brainstorming & sketches
Our first visual followed the principle “one image is worth a thousand words”. We dropped this, as we felt that our logo should incorporate the element of text.
The concept of the letter B in a bold and serious font intertwined with the letter S shaped like a thunderbolt is one we held on to. However this image seemed a little too simplistic.
With the thunderbolt in the foreground we felt that the dynamic of the logo was in a better balance. We introduced our full name in the logo, which is an element we liked, but still the big picture seemed a little rough.
The circle is a shape most fitting for a coffee store. Even though we liked the overall idea, the spiraled “o” and capital “S” in the word Storm, the underlined font in combination with the circles seem overwhelming, driving the focus away. We however felt confident that maroon is our color of choice, it is not only appealing to the eye, but also according to color theory it symbolizes power, energy and determination to succeed, elements we definitely want to be associated with.
Our Final logo is heavily based on the 3rd attempt. However we simplified it, and used the dynamic diagonal connoting our ambition of a strong presence to the industry. We feel that this logo captures the spirit of Brainstorm Cafe perfectly.
